*cough* FL studio 8, lol I DONT CARE EVERYONE ITS AMAZING and its only £90 with a student card.

AND i use Cool edit for recording and editing samples etc.

As it's a remix, a lot of the elements are from the original. I just added some sub bass, a sped up drum break, with some hits to fatten it up. Then i put on a string section, some wobble bass for the "dubstep" section of the vocals. and a nice sin wave sub bass!

bit of automation and thats it really.

bit of maths, to work out by what percentage to strech the vocals to match up with 174 bpm as well!

that's all you need!

If you are getting into production, please buy monitors, they are the most crucial part!

Getting back to subject, DnB is far from dead, its expanded all over the world!!.All thats happened is its split into sub genre's, which is a very good thing imo.I admit some of these are getting very tired, tracks from the likes of Magistrate and Taxman ect are all the same, with all originality gone.It was the diversity of DnB that made it so strong, but these mainstream producers, churning out the same old samples remixed is doing it damage.Theres so many good producers out there who are relatively unkown, Mark Tailor made an awesome album as did Matar recently.I have been into DnB from its conception, i was a big fan of Ltj Bukem and the early heavy bass.But now ive progressed to the darker techno influenced stuff of Current Value, Limewax, Counterstrike.The jungle/jump up scene is pretty much for kids nowadays, clubs are full of these 15-20yr old chavs in caps lol.They all do that stupid steppa dancing to, they make me lmao flailing around.In the old days it was just the 2's n 4's you danced to, but they make it look like riverdance lol.

FL Studio is quite a nice app, a friend of mine uses it for his production and actually i like it a lot.
grats for your remix once again - even if it wasn't so hard work it's feeling quite nice and that is the most important part of music i think!


GUVNA - where are you from? does this apply for the USA?

i'm from austria and the scene here (as far as i found out by now) is a little bit different:
ppl do like jungle and jump up - you have to watch out a bit though what you play, but in general they like these subgenres.
nobody does steppa dancing here though, and i'm really happy about it!
the ppl listening to dnb are from about 15 to 30/40 and mostly they don't care what type of dnb you play as long as it fits in the overall atmosphere. i'm 24 and i do like jungle (esp. reggae/ragga jungle as my spinning roots are in reggae/ragga) and jump up, but i also do like subgenres like neuro a lot - ppl like neuro too, but most of the time you can't play neuro only, you have to bring them slowly to neuro (starting with liquid, going to jump up and progressing further and further until you're at neuro and techstep).

it's funny how different the scenes in different countries can be

Morbido im from England, and yeah the steppa dancing seems to be a european thing.I have a lot of friends from the US and where DnB hasnt been around so long there, they tend not care on the genre.But its been around so long here dj's and party go'ers get a wide choice.The jungle/jump up style was around from the start, so many of us older guys (im 30) progressed.But the younger generations still see it as fresh.I play liqiud and intelligent aswell as dark tech, darkcore w/e you wanna call it, but clubs rarely ever mix jungle/jump up with those, if they do its a seperate room/club.

Heres some steppa if ya never seen it, when they get going n mashed in a club its so funny.They normally end up hitting someone with their flailing arms and get a beating lmao.

Now imagine the situation in Austria - it's a small country, there's kind of a big house massive, but kind of a small DnB massive... I mean there is one, but it's rather small...
DnB in England is MUCH more evolved - here in Austria ppl generally don't care about genres in DnB, I guess about 10% of the DnB massive here are DJs spinning DnB

In England and in America Dubstep also got a quite big massive - I'm spinning Dubstep myself and mostly I can spin it only at the end of the gig, as playing Dubstep nearly always clears the floors
There are some heads, if you find some of them you can make them dance to Dubstep all night long, but in 2000 ppl I guess there are about 10 to 15 Dubstep heads...

I'm much more into Liquid and Intelligent than Neuro or Techstep... I like those dark and bad genres very much, but it can't beat really good Liquid IMO!

i like all kinds of freaky dancing. the video above is a bad example but if done right, dnb stepping can look real nice. that's what i really like about dnb raves - you usually got enough space, because the rooms aren't that filled and the music fits to jump around like crazy. dunno about you guys, but it's a hell lot of fun to me. i rather see someone having fun than someone looking cool

well i mean i come from dancehall and ska music so it's probably just natural for me to jump around.
