This is a Mac vs PC debate at heart and I wouldn't call a Macbook Pro blingy.

Are you paying a surcharge to get in on the Apple world, absolutely.

As for taste... Well, if blingy cars and blingy turntables are your idea of good taste, then forgive me if I find your critique more than a little ironic. I value performance more than perception, and clearly the Lambo was lacking.
I didn't miss any point at all. You're just to naive to accept and understand.

Performance isn't just about horsepower. As I have said, gaining more power is easy. Overall performance is PERFORMANCE and not just the engine power. Again, you're too ignorant to understand that.

Also, what's blingy about a Lambo and turntables that I do? Do you even understand what bling means? I guess not.

This metaphor isn't at helping with this discussion.

Fucking car analogies man. It's like the first go to point for idiots in an argument.

I'm actually jealous of the matte screen. Apple doesn't make any, but they're not alone in that. Something like 90% of laptops sold come with glossy screens despite something like 90% of users stating that they prefer matte screens.

My suggestion is to hackintosh it. The run terminal and pretend you're on linux. You have to install your package manager by yourself, but it's kind of awesome how much from the linux world just works on OS X. Wait, no it's not…it's based on BSD.

Oh, wait…Ubuntu. Take that with a grain of salt. It really depends on which kind of Ubuntu user you are.

Clearly, you haven't realized that Performance isn't the only benchmark by which something can be judged. Some of us have realized that performance–above a certain threshold–is just pointless wankery. And that goes for just about anything. It takes like $8 to keep strangers from seeing your balls while you're walking down the street. Why, then, are there pants that cost a couple grand?

According to nem0nic, to part fools with their money with no possibility of any other reason to anyone ever.

If anyone has ever owned anything "nice," they know that's not the whole story. And that they're never going to convince people like nem0nic that there's anything to value in craftsmanship, artistry, or presentation.

Remember the car jacking? Yeah…that doesn't work here. Only like 3 people give a shit about cars.

Nothing, man. Blue LEDs fix everything. As far as performance goes, I guess next time someone in a Supra pulls up next to Mr. Lambo, he'll stay off straight-aways. I just thought $400,000 buys you a little more car than that.

Jesus christ, really? So you buy into the Apple bullshit SO MUCH that you really believe that NO OTHER MANUFACTURER provides craftsmanship, artistry, or presentation?

Look, if you're comfortable paying more money for something that is shiny but doesn't perform as well as something else, spend that money. Sure all kinds of places sell shit that isn't worth what they charge. If you spend a couple grand on a pair of jeans, yes I think you're a fucking moron more concerned with being in the "look at what I have" club.

TLR - No you don't need a Mac to DJ. And Lambos suck

God I hate glossy screens. Why does this happen?

No, I buy into the actually knowing something about computers club enough to believe that nothing Microsoft makes provides craftsmanship, artistry, or presentation, and I'm not willing to put up with their garbage just to run audio software when there's a viable option somewhere else.

Apple is a necessary evil the the music world, and I think OS X is better than Windows for everything, because I don't think there's anything that Windows is inherently good at…except convincing Adobe not to release high-quality flash player for other platforms. They're amazing at that.

As for everything else, you still haven't gotten my point, and you never will.

I hate Lamborghini too. I think they're overpriced ricers for people who wear gold chains and thoughtless spread collars without ties instead of frilly dragon stitch detailing. But that's just wops vs chinks…it's all the same shit…the worst caricatures of a society coming through in their weird obsession-based wankery.

Your weird obsession-based wankery is objective measures of performance…I get that. I just think you're flat wrong in ignoring that other people might have other concerns…like actually wanting to use something for more than 10 minutes a day before we give up and do something else because we're not having enough fun working with an ugly, blunt instrument designed by monkeys instead of something that works at least as well but is a joy to use.

I've conceded multiple times that you don't need Apple to do anything with music if you're okay with Windows.

Are you ever going to concede that there might be a reason besides "Shiny" that someone might like Apple? Or anything that you don't see as the epitome of performance for a given product?

We've been over this before mostapha but I forget the answer and I was wondering again- why do you use OS X over linux? Software availability?
