Were they perfect with CDJs and vinyl? nope. My record selection has, and always will, set me apart from joe schmoe. You shouldn't put people that aren't ready for it out there.
No, it doesn't go back to the owner. 20 years under your belt? Odds are you'll be retired soon. Life span of a DJ is not that long, if it was there would be much older DJs playing in all the clubs and bars around the world.

That's what I don't get about this conversation. Apparently where everybody else lives their clubs all have amazing veteran DJs spinning from dusk till dawn. And club owners and organizers don't try to support newer DJs. I mean the thought is fun, but then I imagine a club with DJs like me, middle aged, bald and heavier. We'll have to take more breaks for the toilet though.

As a guy who does parties, I would give just about any new DJ who's selection I liked, a chance....as long as their guest list is long. I would love to hire all these 40 year olds, who work cheap, can work at 3a.m. on a Saturday night....and have long guest lists, where are they? Sign me up.

I love the idea of a governor sync.

If someone boasts about not using sync, where is the problem? Why does that make someone else insecure?
First off, they aren't just boasting, they are bashing. Completely different. And I gave the justification in this thread. Because mistakes happen and I see it as a quality thing. Think governor sync, people wouldn't even know...unless they screwed up, and even then most people wouldn't know.

The entire debate is "I don't need it; no real DJ does" against "it helps me be more creative", which are both complete BS IMHO.

I like the "it's easier" argument in favor of sync, but then.....I can still mix without it, so I'm not sure which side I really fall on.

Sometimes, it's fun to go back in time and just hold 2 tracks together. Sometimes it's fun to mix with 4 decks, loop, samples, and all of the other junk that keeps us busy.

And when it really comes down to it, the best sets (for listeners) are when you can't really tell what's happening and you don't care....the music is just good.

Why can't we all just get along and stop arguing about tools?
No, people just don't like using it, which is different then people think they're better than you for no using it.

JAF, you're just like my dad. Everyone can tell you the best idea and show you 50 ways why it's the best idea while having it smack you in the face, but you'll still be against it. Then you'll figure out that idea is a good idea, and tell everyone "you're all idiots for not figuring this out sooner". And then everyone is like Ok dude what ever.

I'm not a mind reader, just going off what people have said in this thread which was, "sync makes dumb Djs dumber" or something to that effect. I'm teaching my son right now actually and he's learning without sync. And what people like to don't like doesn't really matter with this topic, which is that your average club goer would have a better over all experience if everybody not on turntables used sync.
The governor sync is a brilliant idea actually, then you've turned your cdj, controller into a teacher. Here in Japan, the karaoke places give you scores on your performance. Pros use the places to practice. We have a lot of really technically good singers because of it. Then in a flash, all these amazing DJs would freaking love it because it would be vindication.

Any thought that starts with, "you're like my ......" is silly. Maybe when you're your dad's and my age you'll have the wisdom to understand that.

An 11-page sync debate in the year 2014? I'm genuinely surprised you all had the energy.

lol, a darude show. Am I talking about a darude show? Where do you live, been to a club recently? God I hope they aren't playing that song still where you live.

Mornings are my time off. Just house cleaning. After noon nap coming up.

Tokyo. Tokyo has a pretty good club scene and I've lived in NY, L.A. and England. There is usually a super star playing somewhere, but most djs working are not super stars.
