Give it a try some time. Whether you end up actually mixing that way or not, I'm convinced it'll make you a better DJ to learn how to do it. Remember, the DJs that invented house didn't have channel EQs. That's all I intended to do...I just ended up also not liking the way DJ EQs sound. They're just too heavy-handed to use when mixing and not precise enough to actually balance differently-mastered tracks.
I have done it before and I wasnt a fan. House and electronic music is also vastly different than it was in those days. Dynamic range, harmonic content and production are completely different.
i love the EQs on my Ecler, they are so musical, and great at surgical EQ.
Disagree strongly. Its very easy to remove dissonance from an instrument that sits in the mid range by dialing out the mid EQ, if you just want the drums or another element.Also, EQs don't take out dissonance from key clashes.
It might still technically be there, but inaudible.
