Give it a try some time. Whether you end up actually mixing that way or not, I'm convinced it'll make you a better DJ to learn how to do it. Remember, the DJs that invented house didn't have channel EQs. That's all I intended to do...I just ended up also not liking the way DJ EQs sound. They're just too heavy-handed to use when mixing and not precise enough to actually balance differently-mastered tracks.

I have done it before and I wasnt a fan. House and electronic music is also vastly different than it was in those days. Dynamic range, harmonic content and production are completely different.

i love the EQs on my Ecler, they are so musical, and great at surgical EQ.

Also, EQs don't take out dissonance from key clashes.
Disagree strongly. Its very easy to remove dissonance from an instrument that sits in the mid range by dialing out the mid EQ, if you just want the drums or another element.

It might still technically be there, but inaudible.

It's definitely not inaudible to me. But, to each his own.

I would imagine it's picking the perfect tracks and picking from blocks. To be honest it does seem a bit like that, I do get what you're saying though.

Of course its audible if you leave it audible.

If you carve out harmonic information from a frequency, im not sure how you can claim its audible. I wonder if we have our wires crossd. Its very easy to EQ out midrange instruments.

Overtones and dissonance are still in the highs. And most of the song is in the mids, so...I'm not sure what would really be left if you did that.

In the context of specific songs and specific instruments it works just fine. We might just play different music.

And it depends on the style, where most of the harmonic content is.

a lego dj is one that knows every piece and puts them together into something cool.

    Well...no.

Radio DJs don't do that. Top40 DJs (in my humble opinion) can't do that (because they're limited in their selection). And there are a lot of big names who I think fail miserably at it because they're too edgy.

But yeah...that's what I try to do. I don't even try to do it with the granularity of people like Richie Hawtin, but that general idea is the goal.

(note: "edgy" should link to the Daria definition. The first definition on UD is wrong.)
