I'm routing the audio from each deck in Traktor to a channel in Ableton. In ableton I can then add effects (the effect slots in Traktor are used for advanced filter:92's for each deck). Ableton sets the master clock in my setup, because with Ableton you can make much more subtle changes to the master clock than I could achieve in Traktor. At the moment I'm using Ableton as an effects unit, but later on I want to use it as a hub also, because I also want to incorporate Maschine in my setup. But that's not going to happen for a while . I also use a tool called Midipipe (free and works like a charm) to hijack the midi signals coming from my VCM-600. This way I can use one midi-controller for two pieces of software (Traktor and Ableton) at the same time. If you want to know how to route Traktor into Ableton, check out BentoSan's guide...
    Check out my work!

Cheers for the info man! I know how to route audio into ableton I just wasn't sure if you just had them synced up for 8 decks as aposed to 4 and more FX. What fx are you using in pericular within ableton?

I had no idea about the midi pipe, I would have thaught you could use one controler for two softwares anyway? Aslong as you didn't have one cc to both programs (if ye get what I mean)

Mostly just reverbs and delays. The delays integrated in Ableton are so so in my opinion, so I'm trying out some cool delays like the PSP Lexicon 42 and the OhmForce one. I really like the Lexicon and I'm not the only one because big DJ's like Richie Hawtin use it too. Artillery2 is also a fun vst to use; very easy to use and packs quite a punch!

As for the thing with midipipe you mentioned, I always thought you could only control one program with one midi-controller at a time. I just tested using both Ableton and Traktor without midipipe on, and it worked! Don't know why I couldn't figure that out myself...

I'm gonna try out some of them vst's cheers! Iv never really had a proper dabble with ableton but I really want to get into using traktor along side it.

I don't like the way you can only see one waveform at once in ableton, but traktor lacks vst's so this seems like a top comprimise!

how is the kp3 on the master out working?

i suppose you can loop layer from the vci/traktor into the kp as a different way to mix?
