Don't get me wrong, it's more sensible than buying a pair of CDJ350s, but don't forget it uses those tiny jogwheels from the 350s. It's still - as far as I'm concerned - no competition whatsoever to a decent controller. Plenty of which can be had for half the price of this unit.
Which controller is better than this honestly?

The DDJ-SX maybe but it requires a laptop to run.

Honestly the only thing that has close to the features of this is 2 CDJs and a DJM mixer. No way I'm getting that for the price of this and a new Ipad.

If the jogs are like the aero they will actually be pretty good. The aero's jogs aren't too bad at all. Much much better then the 350, the 350 feels like there is damn sand underneath.

I mentioned this before it was officially released, but if it had send/return loop for use with an RMX1000, this would have definitely been a serious contender for me.
    Traktor: Kontrol X1, Kontrol F1, DN-MC3000, DN-X1700
    Ableton: Launchpad, nanoKontrol2, LPK-25, BCR2000

I'm planning on putting down a deposit on this or a white AERO this weekend (sadly had to sell all my CDJ/DJM/RMX a few weeks back to pay for the loss I made on a recent festival I put on - went well but sadly and painfully not well enough)

It feels like both units have a lot in common but also each has certain plus points. Am just trying to remember from when I used an AERO a few months back what were the things the R1 doesn't have. So far my list is:

    - jog drum mode
    - rekorbox wifi streaming from ios/android app or laptop
    - 4 sample buttons (R1 has three)
    - Traktor TSI (handy as I've still got a version of Pro 2 I use a fair bit, but I prefer using Rekordbox prepped tracks and a hardware mixer)
    - Record direct to USB stick

am I missing anything else ??

Biggest downer for me about the AERO is lack of hotcue buttons without using traktor, but tbh I can work around it

With the R1 I'm loving the on/off buttons for the colour effects, the CD players are a very handy addition, and the Remotebox app is something that looks a lot of fun (especially the XY things - great way to have a few DJM 2000-like mixing options). And
hotcues are a BIG welcome addition for me.

Just can't decide which to go for - this'll likely be my main device for a year or so until I can save again to get back the DJM/CDJ/RMX I sadly had to sell so want to make the right choice.

also - I can't seem to see if the R1's beat effects work post fader ? That was def one of the things I loved about the AERO that the echo trails would carry on after closing the fader down

This, my primary complaint with all cdj's that aren't in the 900-2000 range.

So basically the Aero if you want a wee toy for parties, and the R1 if you want a serious machine then?
Technics 1210 mk2's, Pioneer CDJ 500, Allen & Heath DB4, NI F1's (x2), Reloop Contour Controller Edition, Sennheiser HD25 1-II or Allen & Heath XD2-53's depending on my mood...
