There's more than one style of House? I guess I prefer Craftsman over Tudor then.

There gets to be a point where things get so twisted around and mutated that it holds no resemblance to the original and shouldn't be called the same thing or even a subset. Where do you draw the line? Is Rihanna house music? Lady Gaga? Black Eyed Peas? LMFAO? SHM has gotten closer to those than it is to house music.
Does that sound like house music or pop music?

If hitting the crowd with cakes and popping champagne meant I could be an international headliner, I would buy out the bakery and the liquor store.
I disagree, and the sold out arenas worth of people are probably on my side
Edit: Before I got into DJing I played bass guitar. A few summers ago when I was in a unsigned touring band, we were travelling out of town to play a smallish festival. The promoter had emailed me a few weeks back asking me to label the band genre-wise, not thinking about it I just said "metal".
Fast forward to show day, we play our 40 minute set, break down our gear and go relax near the back of the venue. Next thing we know, we're being accosted be a couple young kids who proceed to give us a lecture about how our band is not "metal" but "progressive metal".
This attitude pisses me off, when ever I meet someone or speak with someone like this, the first thing that pops in my head is "what a pretentious cunt". Who cares, it's music people. If you don't like SHM, don't buy their tracks, don't spin their tracks and don't go to their shows. All this "real house music" bullshit is making some people sound like a bunch of crybabies.

But now you are changing the perception and what's expected of a "House" DJ to something that isn't even House music anymore and then you start lose it's history and heritage.
Besides, when was the last time the majority got it right? Does anyone remember Germany circa 1939? How did that go down?
