[Front Page] Traktor 2 Released!

Hi Guys,

I've just had my Motu 828 die on me, the only downside of this soundcard for me was a lack of Phono preamps...

I'm now looking at either the Audio 10 or the SL8... I'm not hooked on either system from a DVS point of view as i'll probably only use it sparingly as my main usage will be ableton. I understand how it works from a soundcard point of view that i can use it to route out 5 stereo channels to a DJ Mixer (i have a djm600 which has 4 channels and i think a return track that i could use, having never had the need i've not tested)....

The question i have is on the Phono pre-amps, can i use them to route audio from my vinyl (not time code) directly into Ableton or other to record the basement full of vinyl i have....??

I appreciate it's not even out yet but any ideas would be welcome, i'll probably pre-order....

yes you can do that.

You can do that with any of the current cards too. That is: SL3 (not SL2!), Audio4, Audio8. They all have phono pre-amps and the proper drivers for general use in Abelton. You could also use the S4 built-in interface too. It has the phono pre-amps and is usable in ableton too ... even in parallel with Traktor

The new generation cards from Rane & NI just have more I/Os, if that's what you need. Also the TA10 & SL4 have phono pre-amps on 4 of the 5 inputs.

Excellent, ok next question, can ableton and tractor reference the same soundcard... EG i want to output the cue and master from Ableton and two decks from Traktor?

Probably... but you might be better off routing traktor into ableton first then using that to control the master out.

the drivers are known to be multi client, so yes (I expect someone to correct me if i'm wrong).

Are you after the A10 so you can utilize all 4 channels + the send/return from the djm600?

Yes spot on.... Although i can live with Ableton master being summed to a track as i use an APC40 to mix Ableton, i can use a max4live device to get it to midi control tractor as well but i want to use timecode for spontaneous stuff around my ableton sets....

I could route Traktor back in i suppose but i'm happy it going straight out...

I've played with the demo and syncing it but i'm not that bothered as i can beatmatch so i won't really be using sync at all....
