I have Deck C routed to Channel 1 on my 1700. I can monitor that deck/channel through the 1700's cue button all I want...basically keep the channel fader down on the X1700, press cue and put the slot fader up on the X1...BUT if I have any one of the slots is playing live (the slot fader is up and the channel fader on the 1700 is up), and I want to monitor another slot, then I can't do it because as soon as I put the slot fader up on the f1 for the slot I want to monitor, it begin playing live through the 1700. I want to be able to hit the F1 monitor button for the slot and have the monitor audio routed to a separate audio bus (e.g., like the preview player in external mixing). Does that make sense?

Not quite though. I have Ableton and it has a specific use for me...I simply want the internal monitor audio bus to be routed to the same audio bus as the preview player for BOTH internal and external mixing modes...regardless of whether a deck is a remix or regular deck. They already do it for internal mixing...i just want them to do it for external mixing mode as well.

So the center plate is removeable....and i never thought of mapping an x1 to decks c/d eqs but its not a bad idea...even if its on a shift layer. I think x1 with this would be nice because you could have the old school effects on fx3/4 and have the new macro effects on 1/2...if that is an available option in the software.
