Practise practise! You never stop learning!
Really though it depends on the person and how many hours you put in!

you need to start 4 days after your 15th birthday and practise everyday for 5 hours playing all genres so that when you turn 21 you are amazing!

but yeah depends how fast you learn, what you consider to be good, how much confidence you have in yourself, how much money your parents have for those new shiny controllers to keep up with the crowds and how many hours you put it, usually people with a musical backround pick it up faster, sometimes people that are deaf and blind with no hands or feet will pick it up in mins, depends who you are and what way your mind works

Realistically it's the same as asking "how long will it take for me to learn guitar?" or "how long will it take for me to learn piano?"

Depends how much effort you want to put it.. I noticed my skills increasing when i went from practicing 2 hours a day to 5 hours a day..

But just because somebody practices everyday doesnt mean they are going to be good at what they are practicing. Or some people take longer than others. (Sorry to put a downer on it but its life)

But practice and practice. It took me 4 years to be 100% comfortable behind decks (2 years practicing once a week but 2 years practicing every day. (vinyl and cdj format)

wait wait wait wait no ones actually mentioned the big picture here why many of us started.... you shouldnt be worrying about getting amazing, getting gigs, girls, money...........

all you should worry about is making sure you have fun, if you dont have fun then the chances of you getting gigs and/or girls are slim to non. no one likes a pissy dj
