You really should get a UPS. As I said, they are a little bulky, but IT will do what you need. Basically it is a battery that plugs into the wall and feeds your gear off of that. If the power from the outlet that charges the battery drops for a few seconds the battery takes over and keeps your gear running happily ever after. I really think you should look into it. I got mine for about $60 in clearance. It has 6 outlets 3 battery protected and 3 surge protected. I don't know if they make any with less plugs. If you do decide to look into that, APC is pretty much the industry standard.
