What a let down to be honest i was expecting a major breakthrough here this is nothing more than serato + ableton = serato + ableton if you get me, nothing new, nothing COOL, nothing intresting and nothing that lets me be more creative. How can this be the product of a years work?? I actualy taught i mite be regratting my decesion to go traktor over serato... very disapointing... unless im missing sumthing?

I too question what exactly this is really bringing to the table. I think part of the problem is that it's just not what people here are looking for. We want the unlimited FX and synths of the DAW, but just controlled with traditional DJ methods. The holy grail of DJing per say. I don't feel that these new features do this.

Damn, and they don't even give the publishing date! I think I'll be happy with it after I get to play with it. I wish they would add support to OTUS RAW as a controller. That would be pretty sweet.

So just calling it a mixtape-editor is a bit...

When you put Serato in Ableton you get the mixtape-editor, but it's the "other side of the bridge" that's interesting...
Yeah, I agree it's cool, I just think they could have pushed the envelope a bit with the amount of potential this idea had, that's all. I'm not saying they flopped hardcore, but I think the editor best sums up my concerns at the end of his article:

It’s the more ambitious reverse direction that’s both the most interesting and the most potentially controversial. After all, if you’re using Session View inside of Serato, why not just use Session View? Will it be more useful to put Live inside the virtual vinyl environment than the virtual vinyl inside Live?
And while I agree, its nice that "The Bridge" is bringing more options to the table for stuff like this, I think it would have benefited more as a DVS plug-in that displays the same information Serato does in the Clip Information portion of Ableton Live. This cuts down on resources needed, makes it easier to keep tabs on work flow, and alleviates any dependencies between two separate programs all while providing the same functionality.

I'm having trouble understanding what you mean by this. Could you explain?

^think that poster wants the collab to use ableton like a fancy fx unit while keeping the traditional dj interface.

this is just the first announcement, i wouldn't sell this short if works as advertised and they have figured out how to sync the two considering ableton doesn't really sync all that well to midi clock coming in.

i'm actually kinda surprised ableton agreed to let this be free I think they are looking for good press after the issues with Live8

i'm going to help a buddy of mine set this up when it comes out, he's got a apc40 too, i can't wait.

Nice, I look forward to hearing what you have to say about it, Im curious to see if the APC40 works with Serato's clip launching interface

I'm thinking along the same lines as mmauve is. Some sort of DVS that you can add into your daw as a generator just like any synth. You can add a DVS track into your DAW, and assign a turntable to control it. It would provide all the same stuff you get in Serato including visualizations, EQ controls, and the ability to load an MP3 into it. Plus you then have the ability to chain it into any VST effects you want. It all runs in one program to streamline performance.

Seems like we already have some solutions for this sort of thing. It would have just been really nice if we got it from Serato and Abelton.
