I sit down when i'm at home just messing around. My vci and my laptop are right next to my main PC so usually when i decide to play some tunes on traktor its a case of turning my wheely chair slightly to the left and open traktor :P.

When i have other people around i'd be standing up though, if i saw a DJ sitting down i'd assume he/she was sitting down due to a dissability or just plain laziness :P

I use to sit down quite a lot, but after standing up, and bringing my gear up to the proper level (around belly button for me), I find my mixing and the overall fun I have has gone up. Only reason I sat down was because of back issues.

    For your right...

Haha true that Chilly Man! I guess there is even DJ's out there who may even Choreograph there sets?

And Tekki I can just imagine you with a Guitar strap attached to your BCR2000 jumping across the room like Angus Young from ACDC and at the end of the practice set running and jumping off the end of your bed and rolling along the ground in a fit of ecstasy as you make those last Tweaks of your performance!

usually stand. it's kind of awkward reaching for the gear when i'm sitting, and i feel more alert when i'm standing too.

What's a good thing to use for a table?

I was thinking of those collapsible ones? You know the ones that are usually white and used at outdoor functions, etc?

You perform like you practice, so practice right! I used to have that drilled in my head in high school band, and it is really true. I had a standing set up for about a year and a half, then had to move rooms and made the decision to set the kit up for sitting and standing. You get way less work done sitting, and you aren't going to be able to rock out to the beat as well sitting either. Now my setup doesn't allow me to sit, and it just feels better.

It is turning into a bit of a lair. There's currently around 180 degrees of gear around me. I could probably fill out the other 180 degrees with maybe a massive TV, a microwave, a small beer fridge then there'd be just enough crawl space to get out to relieve myself every few hours... Hmm maybe not

I do stand up for practise occationally. But it doesn't work out so well because my desk isn't very high and i'm rather tall. I can feel the hunchback forming when i stand and practise :P I do agree that you can definately rock out more when you stand though. I may have to invest in some sort of box device to but my mixer on.

hey man, I have the same problem, but I put a box under my mixing stuff along with a piece of foam to get rid of the hunchback. I love dancing while I mix.

If you can mix without dancing, you shouldn't be DJ'ing. So it follows - if you mix without standing, you shouldn't be a DJ...

Only joking folks - mix any way you want to!
