thanks again architekt, im book marking your website as we speak, getting my mixer tomorrow! cant wait.
I hope its a better choice of me getting the 4d than a mixer and two cdjs.

hey mix architekt, i finnally got my xone 4d, and i honestly cant get any sound from it. i cant figure out how to set it up,
What i have is:
Sony laptop(vaio) windows vista 64bit
traktor duo audio 4dj
xone 4d
is there a site that can give me steps to set it up??
Thanks!!
-
well, you don't need your audio 4dj interface anymore, as the xone:4d replaces that. the setup will be laptop -> usb cable -> 4D -> speakers. that's it.
when you say you can't get any sound from it, are the meters bouncing when you play a track in traktor? if not, then make sure the sound card inputs are engaged by pressing the buttons below the line/phono buttons on each channel.
if it's not connected to traktor, then:
did you install the drivers? either way, go here and get the newest ones from xone. read the details pertaining to your operating system, and download: http://www.xone.co.uk/drivers/
if your drivers are installed properly you should be able to select the 4D as an audio device in traktor, then configure the output routing accordingly. if you look at the 4D user guide on my site, i have screen shots of how the audio bits should be configured.
the audio setup preference panel is where you select the xone:4D as your audio interface and set the latency.
the output routing is where you will configure your deck routing when using external mixer mode. if you've imported my tsi with "audio device settings" checked, it should configure it for you, but sometimes that doesn't translate cross platform - as i'm mac based. the screen shots will help you get the routing straight.
and make sure the midi in and out ports are set up as well, which is part of the controller manager.
hope this helps - t

ok awsome! i got everything working. sound is good and everything with the updates of the drivers. thanks a million man.
But i'm trying to do what you said with using the nob above the jog as the pitch controller, i dont think i'm setting it up right. Because when i set it up, as soon as i turn the nob, the pitch fader jumps up, it doesnt fade up and down smoothly, it also happens when i'm trying to map the nobs on the top right and left corner of the 4d for my effects on traktor. it doesnt rotate the dials smoothly it just jumps the dials to the left or the right, it doesnt just rotate in a smooth manner.
And is there a way i can use my job wheels as a a way to control the track thats playing like you would with a timecode vinyl or cdj? i cant figure it out
Thanks again.
Ps. i'm sorry i'm nagging you with all these questions, but for some reason out of all the websites and forums i'm gone on for help, you are the only person to lol

in both the problems you're having with your effects mapping and the pitch control, you most likely need to change the encoder mode to relative and set the other parameter that i can't remember the name of at this point to 7Fh/01h. then adjust the sensitivity to something really low, and work your way up till you feel comfortable. that should allow for smooth operation.
the other thing for the effect knobs jumping about is the 4D's map mode.
the 4D has two modes of operation - map 1 and map 2. map 1 has the top row of rotary encoders set so that cw/ccw turns trigger midi notes. map 2 is a bit more traditional, in that the rotaries are assigned midi cc's, which offer predictable knob like functions depending on your midi mapping.
to set to map 2, selectable on the poweron setup mode, by holding the left rotary encoder above the left jogwheel on power up.
and for the jog wheels to act like cdj platters, you'll want to experiment with pitch pend and scrub settings. if you check out my xone:dx map, i set up a modifier that switches them between bend and scrub modes, which may be interesting for you. the jogs are in no way a replacement for a 12" disc or a 7" cdj platter, they're more like a dual deck cd jog wheel with a few button presses...
good luck - tim

Ok perfect, thanks alot man, i have it all mapped out and everything is working awsome. JUST ONE MORE QUESTION lol what does the BMP on the 4d ment for?
-
i think you mean BPM, right? the red display at the top left?
you can use the 4D to send midi clock to external devices via tap tempo or tempo analysis... it can also be used to sync the lfo's for the filters, etc...

Hi there, i know im kind of reviving an old thread but im in a bit of a pickle. I cant get my recent bought on ebay xone 3d to work properly with my traktor on mac os x lion. Can anyone provide me with a good .tsi file and how to setup the audio with details?
I also would love to have the jog wheels for seeking the song, not for library music searching.
Thanks!
