Back on subject: Will Pioneer ever get it? They either make "club standard", ridiculously overpriced gear, or just ridiculously overpriced gear.

They are gonna have to make them cheaper than that or they arent gonna sell. A sampler on the mixer would have been nice and maybe a couple more effects.

The CDJ's are so fecking ugly! These are getting such a bashing on djforums atm and I have to agree. Too expensive as usual pioneer, I mean you could get a Xone 22 for half the price of the mixer! I really hope these flop so pioneer realise that the price of their gear is way off!

Ooohh, they are going to sell. They're gonna sell like hotcakes. They have a Pioneer badge, and in certain scenes this is the only thing that counts, just like it still happens with Technics turntables. For what other reason would people still buy CDJ-100s or 200s (cause they can't afford 400s) instead of Denon 700/1200s, Numarks or Radius1000s?

As far as the price is concerned, my guess is that here in germany they will be around 650 Euros, maybe even 700. 699 is what the CDJ400 still costs, and I don't think the 350s will be advertised as a cheaper version of the 400s, instead they will be the "dawn-of-a-new-species"-counterpart of them.
I really like Pioneer gear. I do. Hell, I am probably one of the few that actually likes the look of the CDJ-350 (as opposed to the mixer). The only reason why I don't own any Pioneer gear is because there are alternatives that do the same job in a much, much lower price bracket.

I can definitely explain why Denon isn't top choice (for me at least): the cue features suck horrendously, and the buttons wobble in every direction unless you press them dead in the center. Pioneer lays waste to those issues, that's for sure.

Denon has the right idea, but the worst execution ever. Cue-Play should be a standard feature which is easy to access, instead you gotta hammer the A1/A2/B1/B2 hot-samplers to get even close to this functionality, even then, it isn't on the mark at all. The Cue button is practically worthless, you gotta perform some sort of crazy ass morse code clicking to set a cue point.

Also, the platters on their CD decks is quite possibly the worst idea ever: a thin clear plastic disc which sits on top of a pressure sensor controlled by multiple "clicks" to activate. Thank god they are moving away from this, but in my prior experiences, there was no "solid" touch sensitivity on the DN-S1200, I ended up hocking it on craigslist cause the feel was that atrocious. Tried linking it into Traktor, and the platter performance was sub-par to say the least, and their tech support had no insight as to how to properly fix the issue (and no, it was not because I didn't know how to create my own TSI file lol).

I could keep rambling, but that's my $0.02 on Denon. They either hit the mark dead on (and their pricing is most usually agreeable, for sure) or they air-ball it.

Pioneer knows they got all the shit people want, and boy do they show it in the price lol.

The market that they are aiming at is wrong. 2 cdjs and a mixer is gonna cost what? Too expensive for a new DJ and the clubs arent buying them. They are all getting 2000s if they dont have them already. I would love to have them though but they didnt put enough into the mixer. The djm400 has more features

I think Pioneer and other makers of DJ-CD players are in desperate now. Traktor/Serato and other software is the future, buy a cheap controller and you can do more than you can do with any CD-player... in my opinion scratch DJ´s will go timecode and vinyl and then there will be controllerists. CD is on the way out...

Don't underestimate the appeal of a brand name that seems to be taken as synonymous for "pro". You can still sell a crappy djm 300 mixer for good money. Look on ebay how much cash people get for a beaten up DJM 500, which has never been brilliant in the first place. And still quite a few new DJs, according to the DJ forums where those DJTTs controllerism modernists are considered the closest thing to satan on this earth, would rather go for an old CDJ1000 MKI than buy something better with a less respected name on it. And because they're being told by those who they consider to be the pros tell them that anything except for pioneer is useless.
I might be wrong, but my guess is that the "club standard=pioneer=pro" equasion will pull a lot of beginners into spending big money for the CDJ350s as soon as they can. And that's who Pioneer is aiming at with this gear, I think.
Dunno about the mixer though, too few lights and buttons

Yeah, but remember how long it took the CD to get respected by DJs? There's still some who think that vinyl is the only real thing. Plus, if Pioneer were desperate, they wouldn't sell their entry level gear for the price of a nice little cottage in the countryside.

You dont need time code with any of the new cdjs. The software it comes with looks really good. Same software as the cdj 2000s. All you need to bring to the club is a flash drive. No lugging around controllers and a laptop.
