i wouldnt totally consider that controller as a toy. Sure it is very basic, but it is a great starting point. You could easily get the basics of mixing down, eqing, crossfading, transports, phasing and transitions. Furthermore, once you have the basics down, you can definitely get pretty deep into the program of your choice (be it TPRO, vdj, mixx, etc) with just that controller. Having used traktor for a few years now, i feel like the experience i have using the program and all its ins and outs, i could still rock a party with just this controller, a kick ass mapping (that includes some hotkeys for extra buttons), and a laptop running traktor. Remember, its not all about how expensive your gear is, but rather how you use it. good luck to you

As far as sound cards go: I started computer djing using deejaysystem mk1 when you still had to pay for it and had 2 pci sound blasters going to my numark mixer.. bottom line is yes you can use multiple sound cards for outputting to external mixers or one for moniter cue and one for master.. but this is not true for all dj software.. for example traktor pro only lets you use one sound card .. however if you have a 5.1 channel sound card you can route the front L/R channel to master and use the rear L/R channel to plug headphones into.. you can even assign the bass/centre channel to the recording out..
