I have to ask what is it? You put it on the blue wire but there is not on red ones. WHY?
the black stuff your referring to is shrinktube, i used it to cover up where i had soldered on the diodes, so it wont make a bad connection, if the wire should touch something when i "thrown" my vci around. there's no need for diodes on the original button wires (which are the ones i extended with red wire), so thats why it isn't on.

great job...one question. i have spraypainted my mixer faceplate with some luck but it seems that the spray would pick up the little amount of dust in the air and get thrown into the paint. have you had that happen?
thanks. spraypaint always gives a tiny rugged surface, and if thats what you mean, thats the thing i like about it, the overall surface seems more plain compared to brush-strokes. if you hold your spraycan too close (closer than 35cm) the paint might spatter a little, and that did happen in my paintjob. (havent used a can for years) so im gonna add another layer later on. i dont think the dust in the air showns in my paint, and if you spray in a normal closed room, it shouldn't be a problem.

04 - once the machinist started drilling, the fillings started to crack. i then had them cut out a square around the old holes, and weld in a new plate with the new ones. this is surely gonna last forever and will definatley take a beating.
05 - close up
06 - filled the small gabs and sanded the whole thing down, dont worry if theres a little paint left, it just helps the new paint stick.[/QUOTE]
I want to make my vci for about 2-3 cm bigger in height,
so my question is;Was it difficult to weld, and what sort of steel did you use
I think its Aluminium.....

Good effort there! i was wondering coz i've seen that you used the 'snap in' arcade buttons, which i presume are 24 mm, do they work just the same as the ones with a screw nut top hold them in place? and in terms of playabilty, are they well worth the work? i've seen some arcade buttons with lights in them which would be cool if ic coul be made possible. tim
what did you use to re-paint the lines on the knobs from red to white?
