go for a bcd 3000 for starting. if you grow out of it, sell it and buy something better like the vci. this is the way i and many others on the forums did.

I don't have any experience with too many other controllers besides the VCI 100 SE and Midi Fighter. If you can afford the VCI SE I would go with that. It is a great contoller to start off with. It has all the functions you will need so you won't feel the need to upgrade anytime soon. Cue point juggling is an advanced technique that will have to wait until you learn how to mix properly. And when that point comes then I would recommend getting the midifighter.
Thank you very much guys, after reading all your opinions I took a decision, I will wait for a vci 100 arcade, meanwhile I'm trying to get hold of a second hand vcm 100 and a korg nanopad that i got new for £35.
Btw I'm planing to use an old Tascam US-122 that I used to record with my previous pc, I read it has some compatibility problems with mac osx tho, do you know anything about this?
And final question, do you know where i can see or read some tips on basic mixing techniques?
Thanks a lot, this looks a hell of a good forum!
This should help too:

and def check out the FAQ/Recommended reading in this forum.
I also have a Tascam US122.....however....it will not really help you as you need soundcard that has 2 channel outs.
You need one for your master and one for cueing.
The Tascam is not able to do this.
You COULD create a Aggregated Device in the Audio section of your Mac.
Here you can link 2 separate sound cards together (Tascam and onboard).
Then you can use one for cueing and one for master.

Thanks Shane, I'll check the links and the FAQ section (I should have done it from the first moment but i got excited about all of this and I didn't even think about it)
I didn't know I needed 2 outputs! There is so much that I have to learn, but I will.
I also try to use both sound cards, if I struggle too much I'll try to get a cheap numark DJ IO, it should do the job fine right?
You don't need 2 sound cards. You can practice using only the onboard soundcard. You only need an external when you are ready to play out.
This is a good news, I don't have much money to spend on this and I'd like to build up my equipment slowly as long with my skills.
VCM-100 comes with a built in soundcard which will be fine for now. It will enable you to cue up tracks etc.
You shouldn't be needing that Tascam sc at all...
The nanopad is defo a bonus but what you're lacking with your set up is effect knobs.
IMO the Akai LPD8 would be a great complimentary controller for the VCM-100 cause you could use the knobs for fx and the pads for beat juggling![]()
