what the owner would say to you?
"Can't you use my mixer? What's wrong with it? Behringer is shit!"
well on that note, i only use my ddm when i am mixing at home, at a house party, or at an event out in the bush ect, then when you go to the club, all you need to bring is your midi controller, a soundcard, and your laptop, then you can plug into the clubs mixer and 95% of clubs here have a ttm57, a djm800, or both, so i never have a problem

I'm sorta headed that way as well. Planning my set-up so that I am comfortable to just plug in to the cdjs and the mixer they have with my laptop/soundcard/and midi.

I WAS about to get a ddm 4000, but I am sceptical now. Apparently it got great reviews but it just seems so cheaply made....

On the other hand it IS cheap as hell and for a 4 channel mixer, that's pretty insane. Seems like it would be an easy transition from using one of those to using a ttm 57 or a djm 800.

I still don't really know how it would be set-up tbh considering it doesn't have an onboard soundcard. I know I would have to use an audio4/8...not sure how it is set up. Can it even be run without a laptop? Cuz that's where the audio4/8 would be connected....I don't know :S

Currently I am just planning on getting a xone 22 2-channel mixer (350$) so I can save up for some other A&H mixer.

well rt, seems like you got the idea, and if i were you i would stick with the ddm, but the zone 22 is a good choice aswell, buutt if you do get the xone, that must mean you plan on mixing 2 channels externally, you dont need audio 4/8 to do this, audio 2 can output 2 seperate channels to the xone and you dont need a headphone volume on it cause u can headphone cue from the mixer, so unless your planning on using timecodes, an audio 4 basically has no advantage over audio 2, unless you want to record, but there is cheaper cards you can use for that,
personally i think mixing 2 channels externally with traktor is the way to go, it offers the potential of using any mixer, you can use midi controllers to resemble the decks however you would like, and you have the ability to expand to mixing 4 channels externally, if you like to

OK Guys, I now have DDM4000! I'm quite impressed with the looks of it.

Only thing is.. I have no idea how to set it up :|

    Any help?

I plan on using it with my vci-100se, audio 4 dj and traktor pro on my macbook.

I want to start playing with it but I haven't had any luck! Help would be greatly appreciated

In Traktor, go to Output Routing, set to External. Select the audio4 channel A/B pairs in Output Channel A and B.

Wire the A outputs (1/2, yellow/white) from the audio 4 to the Channel 1 line inputs on the DDM. Red goes on Yellow, white on white.
Do the same with Out B (3/4) to Chan 2 for example. And plug your headphones into the DDM Mind the headphone level - it can go quite loud.

Play something - you should see the channel meters light up. If they don't, you didn't pick the proper outputs in traktor, wired things wrong, the gains on the ddm are all the way down, or maybe you need to toggle the line/phono button at the top of the channel strip on the ddm, next to the gains.

To prelisten tracks, load something in either deck, enable the PFL button on the cued channel and turn the mix knob (above the "crossfader" text) to the left to set the amount of cue/master you want to hear. This is pretty much just like using standard vinyl/cds, so you lose the extra monitor channel you might be used to from internal mixing.

That's a great help! I'm pretty noob, but this is using RCA cables correct?

awesome! looks like i need to go buy some more RCA cables tomorrow :P

And I'm guessing if I ever want to play at a club or something and plug into their mixer, all i need to do is connect my soundcard to their mixers with the same settings and it should all work sweetly?

That's it. I don't think there are too many dj mixers out there withour RCA inputs, so this shouldn't be a problem. Only being able to plug into phono inputs would be though !
Also, if things are too cramped/messy behind the mixer, you should be able to use their rca cables from the back of the CDJs for example.

    Default recording+maps

okk, if you want to record with that thing, just take rca's from your b output and into whatever input channels you have free on your audio 4, then go to input settings, set that line in thats coming from audio 4 to a channel (wichever one is fine aslong as you dont route audio through) then go to recording and select the channel that you route the inputs to, the volume i usually find is about 45% volume on the knob, dont go past 50% or it will get 2 loud, but then again, depends how high your gains are set, so play around with it a bit, and test your recordings are on par with normal songs

another advantage to ddm is being able to hook up 2 channels to mix
externnaly and save all the functions you dont use for midi, http://www.thebreakdown.co.uk/2008/1...p-for-traktor/
there are many midi maps on this page but i think the one you want is the 2 channel with dvs, because dvs is targetted towards people who already use there ddm for 2 channels externally, that way you can try out some midi functions, but personally having my oxygen 8 is enough, and i never program my ddm to midi
