does anybody use laptop keyboard protectors (rubber moulded mats over the keyboard)?

I use one with the ableton keyboard shortcuts on it. Its saved me once already, although I also didnt think of the heat issue...

I have seen way to many Macbook Keyboards take the dreaded beer spill. Specifically Stickybuds' (http://www.myspace.com/djstickybuds) and Downlink's (http://www.myspace.com/downlinkdub) have both bitten the big one from it during a show.
