Hmm, The DDM4000 has great reviews... and I've been thinking of buying one, but you know whats stopped me (btw, I own some behringer processing and eq stuff)? The weight.

its in guitar centere sitting right next to the pioneer djm 800. Pick up the 800, bitch is kinda heavy. Pick up the ddm4000, light as all get out.

I swear to god professional audio companies line their gear with lead. Lightweighness is such a stupid reasonf for me not to buy it, but I cant seem to explain it away.

I played with a DDM4000 at Guitar center the other day, felt cheap. I still think it would be a good mixer for someone just starting out.

I've owned this mixer for a year and two weeks today.
    *It isn't falling apart yet.
*If you want to be anal, finishing isn't top notch. For instance knobs spin a tiny bit off their axis
*Lots of midi mapping options. Too bad the buttons feel like crap!
*On that note, don't press too heavily on them for long. It feels like one of them collapsed on itself a bit. It can't go lower than the pcb, for sure, but is now a pain in the ass to trigger (good thing it's only fx2 select, which I don't use).
*Line faders are ok, they don't feel as satisfying as a djm's though (clicks and smoothness, that sort of stff). Crossfader is about the same thing, I have that section disabled most of the time anyway.
*Pots still feel about as medium-stiff as when I got the mixer, which is nice. Can't say the same for my cue/mix knob which sees the most mileage and almost feels like I'm turning in the air now.
*The headphones jack will emit a slight hiss as you crank the cue volume up. Of course it shouldn't be a problem because you WILL go deaf if you actually monitor anything at these levels - this thing has a LOUD headphone jack. By the way, really shitty placement. I'm thinking of relocating at the front of the mixer, or in the middle of the bottom right Behringer logo or something.
*I don't like only having orange/red on the meters (no, I'm not playing too loud it just doesn't have any green).
*Talking about flashing things... I think they took the christmas-tree complaints into account and did something about the multi/single or phono/line leds. Still, everything else lights up, it's a pain - I turn off the sampler and crossfader section to keep things nicer.
*If you want to use its internal effects, the internal bpm detection is rather good. Not good enough to keep two sampled loops playing in time, even though you can nudge them and tweak the speed in .1 increments-which you will be doing all the time, just to keep ONE in sync with your other stuff.
*I wish the line/phono switches would be more like any mixer's and not just pushbuttons. If you like to stab tracks this way, that would be a good idea for a mod.

Can't comment on any other Behringer gear - but the DDM4000 is a fucking awesome peice of kit. I can't believe they only charge £270 for it?!?

    I owned a Behringer DDM 4000.

It all comes down to what you plan to use it for!!!!

When I purchased it, I was low on cash and didn't care much about sound or build quality. I just needed a low priced 4 channel mixer.

To summarize my experience with the DDM4000:
    - it looks cheap, feels cheap, but this doesn't mean it will broke fast. Mine was still in perfect condition after a year of use.
    - sound quality is OK if you use it at home or in small bars. But if you use it on big PA systems is really sucks compared to Rane/Ecler/Vestax/Allen & Heath. This is why sound and PA engineers really hate Behringer, and that's why many people on the internet are pleased with its sound quality. There are different scales of measuring this thing called "sound quality".
    - it is undoubtely wothing its money; very good price/quality ratio!

So, if you are a bedroom DJ / mobile DJ with cheap speakers, or if you are low on cash, the DDM 4000 is a very very good (sometimes temporary) option. But if you play in clubs or you own good speakers, just borrow a really good mixer from a friend (Rane/A&H/Ecler/Vestax etc) and you will clearly hear/feel the difference between them.

The DDM4000 is amazing value for money... if I had one (seriously considering one) I'd use it as a midi controlller... doubt I'd run any audio through it.

I have a DJX 750. If all you want is simple mixer then I cannot find anything wrong with it...

the only things I find wrong with it are...
-the effects aren't amazing (I use traktors so I don't care for this anyway)
-the volume control is an up fader, if its at ten you will blow your speakers (I bodge some blue tack to keep it at 7, so its not a real issue)
-the EQ kills don't change what your hear in your headphones, so the are useless for pre-queing
-the far right side of the mixer is useless, Behringer should have not included to absolutely useless beat counters!

One thing is that the VU meters are actually quite good (I was surprised how good) so thats a bonus.

When I bought it I didn't expect a pioneer quality mixer, I just wanted something that could mix four audio sources with a VU meter for each source, and for the price you cannot go wrong with it really...
