To put in perspective, in the US, Halo 3 sold in it's first 24 hours, around 550,000 copies!!! Then Grand Theft Auto IV recorded 609,000 copies FIRST DAY sales and to date has sold 17.1 Million copies. This record was then broken by COD MW II which sold 1 million copies on day 1 release!!
Why not throw in some Final Fantasy? Those all presell over a million units. You're comparing Star Wars to... well... anything. 1.2 million units, assuming it wasn't total bargain bin prices, is nothing to shake a stick at. They migh've wanted more from the "heroes" line (why anyone plays these is beyond me) but plenty have done way worse.

I played it for a few days when it came out (I was in a heavy gaming period), put it away and never touched it since. It was fun as a gaming challenge, but is NOTHING like mixing.

I won't be standing in line for the second edition. Heck, I'm not play anything now, too busy mixing!

The first DJ Hero bombed... I guess all the new DJ involvement has rescued it.

Yeah I get where you're coming from but my argument is the guy in article said it was not a flop but compared to the market they're engaged in it was realistically.
1.2 million copies in nearly 2 years of sales versus say 17.5 million of GTA IV as an example (GTA having around an 8 month advantage I'll give you but still). That's around 6-7% of total sales of a market leader. In any industry you try to emulate what they do and this just didn't?
Mind you Activision probably have money to chuck at this with the success of Rock Band and with Sony behind them so what do they care?

yeah, then make it real-time instead of turn-based and playable with the dj hero controller. CLOUD used OMNISCRATCH! it was super effective!

is cloud actually still in FF, I haven't touched any game from the series since VII (probably because I never had a console like the cool kids)...

Don't really play video games so I'm not sure about FF but I love your "DJ Fanasty" idea!!

Fyoog uses 5 hit combo - 3 sec crab into flare, roundhouse beatdrop, crossfader uppercut into filter choke hold!!!

    I'd buy that!!

Yes, and to beat bosses you have to appeal to their musical taste with your mixing... make them dance until they collapse... then go in for the kill with your turntable's tonearm!
Hmm... maybe I took that one a little too far >_>
