I can help out with the dnb

pretty much anything written at around 165-170 with a break beat AND constant forward motion,, it can be justified as drum n bass, although if it has heavy use of the amen break (wikipedia the amen break as it is probably the most important musical innovation of the last century next to jazz music), it can usually be considered jungle.

The main current subgenres of drum n bass are Jump-up, Neurofunk, Tech-Step, Minimal, Liquid, Drumfunk, and Drumstep. Most tracks will fit into one or more of these subgenres based on their charactaristics.

Jump-up's main charactaristic is it's main break or drumline. This is called the Step Break.

Neurofunk's main charactaristic is it's funky basslines and intricate use of synthesizers. Traditionally, a neurofunk track will have many variants of the main groove but will have little to no variants on the drum pattern. Neurofunk is arguably the most difficult genre to produce and mix. Most Neurofunk tracks have dark over and undertones

Tech step shares tones and instruments found in Techno, thus the name. Usually dark in nature and usually a sci-fi feel to the track. Neurofunk evolved from this subgenre

Minimal, like minimal house, is designed to sound, well, minimal. Blue Motion's - Wall of Silence is a good example.

Liquid - Deep rolling basslines, cleaner sounds, and generally a brighter tone than most dnb. What can be called feelgood or intelligent drum n bass. Mixing this is about setting and maintaining a vibe rather than rocking a dance floor, in general. There are some banging Liquidfunk tracks, but not very many. Although this is primarily a lighter sound, there is also dark liquid. a good example of dark liquid is S.P.Y. out of Sao Paolo, Brazil. his tracks are generally dark but still maintain a liquid vibe.

Drumfunk is a subgenre of liquid that has heavily sequenced drums; usually on the backbeat.

IF the track is written dnb tempo AND is written with a two step groove, it is what is called Drumstep or halfstep as it is known in some parts of the world. at first, it can easily be confused with dubstep.

    hope this helps

That is true. The author has an obvious, huge bias.

But I still think it's kinda cool. The concept behind it and the way it's set up is pretty cool, even if it's not completely up to date.

So what you're saying is that, even if it's not to be taken seriously, none of the information is true?

You do know that there is some legitimate information in there, right? No it's not a "definitive source," but then again, what is?

you don't need any of this info. Anybody asks what style of music you play you say "I play both kinds -- drum AND bass."

Reminds me of that scene in "This Is Spinal Tap" when Michael St. Hubbins asks Viv, the keyboard player, if he can cover the bass parts on a certain song and he replies "Yeah, I got 2 hands"

As a bass player, I got this a lot.
