As for the laptop, it was a faulty hard drive, rock solid now it's been replaced (The HDD). Interestingly, it's a a lean stripped down optimsed beast.

I second the X1. haveing a mapping on hand that will let you do some extra stuff in traktor with the X1 and being familiar with it is a good idea.

yeh +1 for the X1. It's possible to DJ with that alone, though not ideal, but in a normal situation it would give you extra features alongside an S4.
