Yeah that's the kicker for me at the moment as well. I really like the arcade mod VCI-100SE's... but after all is said and done, it's much more expensive that the S4.

It's a tough situation. 2 channels and buttons of awesome, or 4 channels and decent buttons.

I vouch for the VCI, it allows for expansion and adding additional controllers later, whereas since the S4 has standalone software it isn't going to work as well with other hardware.

I'd pick my rig over a S4 any day, but it all comes down to if you want a bigger, personalized, and in-depth setup or if you want an all-in-one solution that'll do it all for you. I pick the personalized and larger VCI setup.

Edit: This isn't to say that you need to expand, the VCI is just amazing by itself.

    no I dont.. I wish

Its just if I was going to spend that amount of money on a controller I would def go for the S4. Yes you can mod the fukc out of the vci and personalize it the way you want, which is great, but with the S4 on the other hand you have almost everything you need already there at your fingertips.

Maybe before the release of the S4 I would say the vci is the better choice but now with the S4 out, as a all in one controller I wouldnt recommend the vci.

    Just my opinion.

One thing I will say, the S4 doesn't look like the sort of thing you can cart around to gigs, it looks quite large and the footprint in the booth matters lots.

I don't have one, just going off pics I've seen.

I have a Kontrol X1 and an external mixer.....
