now why would i do that trade ... its either the s4 or serato for me. i still have 13 days left before my 30 days is up at guitar center. So your saying i can control the fx with computer keys? does serato have a beat roll like the S4? how are the fx? is the bridge only useful if i have a rane mixer? cause i have no plans to get one of those?

"now why would i do that trade"

I was just throwing that out there, VCI-100SE 1st Gen are super rare plus I think it was be a fair trade.

"i still have 13 days left before my 30 days is up at guitar center"

GC will charge you 15% restocking fee, plus they dont do returns on software. Heck they dont even take Serato boxes back being that it has Serato Scratch Live (and its free to download from serato.com)

"does serato have a beat roll like the S4? how are the fx?"

Yes the have loop roll similar to the Pioneer DJM series mixers. Any yes the fx's are good. I prefer them over the traktor fx's being that the serato a pre-fader instead of post-fader like traktor has them.

"is the bridge only useful if i have a rane mixer?"

Mixtape on the bridge is good with the SL1/3 but is great with the 57/68. With the SL1/3 the bridge only records the output of the tracks. With the 57/68 it records the audio of the decks and the fader/eq movement.

    hope the info helped

Yeah I think your thinking in the right direction.

S4 Cheap feeling plastic traktor toy (but in a good limited way)

SL3 is way more powerfull at the end of the day.

    SL3
6 in 6 out sound card
    The bridge

Ableton is a very powerfull program you can do tons of stuff with. Dj , make music, whatever. I think Traktor is more for one dimensional djing still stuck in the middleground.
Ableton and instruments and so forth are the future for the multi dimensional dj. You can take any track that is playing and have it control an instrument which will be perfectly in time etc etc...

S4 is a bedroom toy for most cases, not all of course..

ok... i don't see any where on the serato site saying i can use the akai lpd8 to control fx? can i do this for sure. I really love my s4 but i think the sl3 might be more beneficial for me in the long run . i probably will still spend my whole night trying to convince myself as to if i wanna keep it.

    Before you get CDJS.

Sounds to me that you dont really know where you going with all this.

Keep the S4 for a bit longer. Get used to it. Then you will know if you need all the features or you want to go in a different direction.

you will only know what you want to do given enough time.

    Take it a bit slower.

Karlos speaks the truth! I wanted to get Sertato before my S4, I ended up playing with my girlfriend at the times SL3 - and I didn't find it as fun as I thought it'd be. The S4 does get the creative juices flowing though for sure.

Just wondering if it's as easy to do as it was with TSP.(If you're using a mac that its, it pretty much sucks on a PC.)
