I've heard that Small Town Boy being a gay anthem thing before. I can see the parallels and how some gay people might pick up on it and relate to the lyrics. As a side note my dad was gay and from a small town. I lived with him since I was about 10 and never heard him play that song.

Hmmm, my dad wasnt gay, and all I remember hearing as a child was Disco! Born to be Alive, Funky Town, Le Freak, Disco Inferno...and the list goes on.

Hey rock the song, if you want gay disco, I have this set I made for 80s disco, high energy stuff, look on my mixcloud page on the sig below.

Great tune - 'gay' or not. I mean he DID collaborate with Marc Almond (not exactly 'straight') and then went on to the Communards. I'm not sure it's anthemic enough for a NYE peak. What about FGTH (oooooops - 'gay' again!) - "Two Tribes" (not "Relax"). Or something from Propaganda like "Dr. Mabuse". Could be a Trevor Horn tribute

I just love the impact this tune makes when the beat drops, so crisp.

I'm playing for 5 hours NYE... I got plenty new tunes to drop

Awesome:eek: - that's going to need some tunes. I agree on the 'crisp' - reminds me of FYC's 'Johnny Come Home' - both have anthemic vox. Don't you find some 80's stuff a little 'thin' compared with current electronica? Are you dropping in any loops/samples to 'fill them out'? Can you hint at some of the newer stuff you are dropping..............

nothing wrong with that tune, just look at the crowd before you drop it.
i never pick music before gigs, prefer to read the crowd, i dont always get it right.
