So I managed to get like 4 or 5 hours of mixing in this weekend while I had a few hands in for a party.

Well it was about 2 by myself and 2.5 while I had the crowd in.

It seems that tech house and deep house are a good start in terms on genre.

I'm not entirely sure what the plan is but I live in a small city so its pretty much top 40's and loosely termed EDM. Which is another reason why I want to employ effective Djing strategies to get my name out locally. I have been digging threw beatport and trying to develop my own choice of songs that I think will keep the people dancing but in a respective way that keeps the vets happy. Hopefully they will keep me around.

I just need to get a DJ alias and get promoting.

    I'm very excited about this.

I was searching for a site to search songs by BPM. I found some sort of database yesterday but I haven't tracked it down again yet. I'll post it up if I come across it. Obviosuly it would be subject to error

wow, big set for a first gig.. well done mate.

im glad you've found some music that suits your needs - however if it's going to be mostly top40 after you've played, playing tech & deep house might not be the best option.

some classic hiphop may be a better mood setter. see how you go over the next couple of weeks, if people are digging the EDM early on and are dancing etc then stick with it - if not maybe look into playing hiphop instead.

    just my 2cents
