Getting psyched, picking tracks, etc.. pretty confident but.. this is my first Mixtrain.. how does the actual "mixing in" bit usually work? I went to mixtrains and it suggested that there are two ways to do it.. which one are we using?
!!! AWESOMER !!!
The best way for quality is probably something along those lines:
-get everyone's continuous mix
-cut it in two parts, the second being what you'll use to mix out of. Maybe cut it somewhere easy - ie first beat after a breakdown or wherever.
-load that second part in one of your decks, play it, hit record, mix from it (depending on how you play, beatgridding that second part may be a very good idea).
-join your redone part with the first part
-upload wav/aif/flac !
oh and *watch your levels*.
if you go way quieter than the rest it can be worked around but if you go hotter than the rest...
Just try to play at about the same level as what you got. Then it's hopefully just a matter of pumping up your part a few dB when joining.
Some DJTTers also like to just play the entire set while recording, then mix out of it, but even when we're only passing along 44k/lossless files from DJ to DJ, it may jeopardize everyone's (hard?) work if there is something wonky in your signal chain or setup, especially when doing external mixing
