nah, just kidding, i'm simply from a mac family. i'm quiting interested in making a hackintosh though; it'd be interesting to see how it (hackintosh with specs around 2.4ghz, 2/4gig ddr2 ram, 250gigHD) would deal with traktor in comparison to my mac mini 2.4ghz.
Those laptops are not intended to make a hackintosh, there are others lying around!. the beat has two outs and traktor recognises them, so one to the speakers , 1 for cue. the outs are also loud enogh. xtianw has one.

The mid- to high-range Dells (I'm talking Latitude and XPS mainly, Vostro is okay too!) and ASUS models are good.
Whatever you do, don't buy Sony Vaio's, they're crap and cost way too much. Acer isn't DJ stuff either.
Lenovo used to be highly reliable too, but apparently they've worsened (although they are undoubtedly still in the top tier)

I'd say get an Dell, Asus or lenovo that meet the requirements. I am using a Dell XPS 16 but have also run traktor + live on a machine I built for about 300$ US. If you clean out unnecessary services you'll be fine. Try running game booster on your pc, it will make traktor run great.

I'm currently looking at the XPS 15z or an HP ENVY. HP should have great deals on the 14" Envy right now because the line is expected a refresh and they need to clear stock. If you read the forums at notebookreview.com you will find awesome deals for the 14"--maybe around 750USD(!). Plus I believe you may still get one with the i5 and reduce your chances of heating issues.

I'm debating getting a 17" version Envy or the 15z since i'm traveling a lot now and need a desktop replacement. For a dedicated DJ laptop the 14 would do fine though.
    Good luck and don't skimp.

if i was that dude i guess i'd be hacked off.

i wasn't planning on using that particular laptop for a hackint0sh, but build something from scratch myself. the fourth post was quite interesting, but at the end of the day it's down to the OS which i know and love. i still use windows because in a lot of cases, windows provide an application that mac simply doesn't have a decent alternative. although this kind of situation is becoming less apparent more and more.

however the mac OS has always made so much more sense to me than windows xp, vista and 7, and probably 8. and if i can build a budget (but decent) hackint0sh, then that provide a viable solution for me as a skint student.

you can only legitimatly dual boot macs, buying a windows machine and trying to boot it with osx is possible, but it will take a lot of effort as you'll have to find custom drivers for things like wifi, bluetooth, speakers etc. but its not imposible.

Haha i did not say i would buy a mac (a). I really think those laptops are over priced . I probably will make the laptop dual bootable and make one version very clean (one user, only high priority drivers, etc)

I'm using Traktor Pro 2 on a Dell D620 Hackintosh running OSX 10.6 without any problems.

Setting up the Dell to run OSX was quite easy but the hardware specs are also very close to a Mac.

I see no difference in performance compared to my Mac Mini with the same Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83GHz processor and 2GB of ram.
