I'd go for the 850 due to the fact that while the spinning platter is cool, any time you go to play out you'd end up using a stationary platter which would just be annoying. Beside, if you want shit to spin get a turntable :P

I've done enough research to decide for myself and the mk3 is way better for Cd only usage. The waveform display that 850 has is worse than the 1000's and loads as the track progresses so there is no point in it. Of course if you want midi and planning on getting club gigs, definitely gio with pioneers later models.

P.S. CDJ 1000 mk3's can be found very cheap in the used market.
though waveforms can only be seen with mp3 files on a thumbdrive if Im not mistaken, though the Denons are also the same way.

Pioneer gets too much love than they're worth... except the 2000 line seen some pretty nifty things those can do.

No I'm sure that the 1000 loads from audio CD's there are some vids on youtube comparing the waveform of these two.

    .
This is due to the fact that the Denon Music Manager stores waveform information onto the file itself. So during playback you can view the entire waveform at once.
And, btw, you can use external powered hard drive (up to 1TB) with the 3700s.

    same goes for the 850s.

The advantage of the 3700s is they look nicer because they have the vinyl top, and they have the hybrid timecode mode, and they have a few more features like cue points.

My good buddy has a pair of 3700s but I preferred the feel of the 850s more. If you come from a turntable background you'll appreciate the 3700s more, but it will be quite a bit different from using Pioneer CDJs

That's motorized platter, with a REAL (yes, with music tracks) vinyl record.

And to the OP, I'll give you another reason to choose the 3700

is hybrid mode ever going to help you if you're going to be spinning in a club anyway? You're not going to have access to the 3700's midi buttons while at the club.
