id like some big endless encoders that corispond to effects that move like jog wheels so can flick when needed, buttons to match, a set of 8 cues for each deck, a shift button to trigger samples, and for the effects button for 4 preset fx selects, loop encoder and jump mode, then filter controls for each deck... this would be my ideal "x1"type controller, shame I already use my hercules mp3 e2 like this though
*Samsung rv 511, 8gb ram, core i5 processor* *Samsung netbook 2gb ram* *Traktor pro 2* *Traktor s4* *midi fighter spectra* *audio technica ath-m50x* *m audio trigger finger pro* *ableton* *fl studio* and a load of other random bits and pieces.... plus I like bacon yo.

MrPopinjay, this would be an interesting thing to do... Do you really use all these encoders and rotaries? On traktor?

Doesn't matter what on really. I dislike the fact there's so little in the way of controllers build around a certain workflow. I've hardly found anything that suits my desires which is largely why I don't use midi controllers.

Midi controllers would benefit massively from shedding this strange fashion of imitating a cdj+mixer type setup. Richie Hawtin has it right, his gear doesn't pretend to be anything else and has been designed to suit his needs perfectly.

that's why i'm asking around here what people look because I agree with you. so ... more knobs and encoders... that's something to think about... it's even interesting as a cross-plataform thing, dj production, ableton traktor whatever...

Midi controllers are cross platform by nature, right? :P

Basically the way I see it is that the only bank of control style controllers we have on the market at the moment are the korg nanokontrol, the novation nocturn and the livid code. The code is expensive, the nanokontrol is poorly built and lacks encoders and the nocturn has a retarded layout and annoying software.

We need a couple of decent quality knobs and encoders at a decent price. I don't know why no one makes it. Same as I don't know why it's impossible to get a midi mixer controller without fucking jog wheels and other fluff.

These are interesting statements... I really agree with you. I think i'll be the first to make a controller with knobs and encoders.
The problem with livid code are those leds and silicone buttons. hard to make. it values the money but still...

About cross-platform... the problem is the sends of the software. So, let's say you want to control leds for example for when you activate something. Traktor does this pretty well through the controller manager but what about ableton for example? Still don't know how ableton live acts with sends for example.

I'm not overly familiar but I think you make a midi channel and send the output to the controller and write the midi data actually as a piano score type thing.
