    Default MBA or MBP?

Are you looking in the apple store, or elsewhere?

I was comparing the two today as well and priced out a 2.7ghz, 13.3", 500gb, and 8gb ram MBP for $1699.

The solid state drive in the MBA is what I wanted...but putting it in the MBP really drove up the price tho. The MBA just didn't compete with the MBP. I can live with the normal drive and a little extra weight.
    nope.

^^ drop the cd drive, and pop a ssd in the boot drive and a bigger hd in the space where the cd drive was.

    best investment ive ever made

Recertified MBP 13 inch. I prefer that some guy already returned the computer and it was repaired by US technicians rather than a sealed box from China... Also cheaper.

Oh shit I heard that first on these forums!!!

Poppin in to ask quick...Would the current baseline 13" MBP be fine for nothing but a super music machine? Traktor, Ableton, and Reason would be the only pieces of software I would instal on the thing. I can't imagine I'd run into ANY issues, but sure as hell ain't gonna hurt to ask!

If money is no object buy a MBP, or a MB if you don't want to spend so much
I've got a MB early 2008 that runs TSP2 perfectly

Money is only an object to about the $1200 range. I can probably muster up the moneys to that point, but anything more is going to be pushing it I think, haha. If it's the best purchase I can make for anything music, then that's the route I'll probably go.

w3rd! Bought a Blackbook on 2008 for 600 and put 4GB RAM and the thing run TP2 like a boss. I played with Ableton for a while and maybe opening the application was not instantly like TP2.

One thing Im certain is that for a 2006 computer, 5 years later it's still running great. The only thing that is kinda falling off is that polycarbon body that once it falls off I'll get a new MBP aluminum. But I will miss that sexy black Macbook a LOT!!

Yeah it's a good laptop, my reason was the same as you, I wanted the black rather than white or aluminum finish.

Hopefully it will last me a good few years to come.
