I might be old, but I think there's a huge difference between mixing tracks just for pleaure of mixing AND build/create a musical environment/feeling/party.
I like building/create "Momentum", playing with people energy/vibe. Some tracks are already made like that, cutting them too fast MAY/(Will) destroy the track "Spirit"
Is 25 track/hours good? It will depend how it's done. There's no rule of thumb for that.
i get what you're saying here. if it was a 4 hour set then i wouldn't make transitions this fast. i made this "mix"(?) for the captains of my schools cheering section to hear what i can do(that i will admit isn't much), but i just wanted a variety in a short time because i made a 30min mix before for them and they didn't even listen to it because it was too long so that's why i had to do the short 12 minutes. but i completely understand where you're coming from
it really is kind of standard to mix at least 20 tracks an hour. please show me a mixtape of a solid dj in that genre who does really less!
It all depends on the tracks that you are playing, event that you are playing at, and the purpose of the mix. Transitioning quickly or late can have positive/negative repercussions. I made a 10minmix with 5 tracks for the hell of it and for promotion since many teenagers/students don't have that long of an attn. span. However, I also have mixes that average around 15-20 minutes, where you can "get into them" (links in the signature). Anyways, that's my

I enjoyed the mix. I think it is great for just getting a cool vibe going, I used it for a workout track.
In my opinion I think you should try mashups as a way of getting people to listen to your mixing skills. They build interest and give people confidence that you can really mix tunes.
