+1 this is an important part i should have mentioned.

yeh I have tried that Lethal pizzle, I get a flashing red line under my track names in traktor saying "error while parsing settings file on import"

also now i have closed traktor and opened it again the playlists I have re-created are gone again, and it made me setup traktor again...because it gave me this msg on start up

"Traktor has converted your settings to the current version. A backup file has been generated in the backup/settings folder."

so is it going to keep losing my playlists everytime i switch off?

Have you upgraded to the latest version of Traktor? Also if you don't shut down correctly, it will wipe everything from beat grids to song imports, playlists, midi settings, basically everything. It happend to me where I made a big playlist and my comp froze and had to force close and lost whatever I had done. Playlists should save automatically as long as you close down the program properly.

Are you starting Traktor from the installer icon? Make sure you're using the application and not starting from scratch every time you open Traktor.

As in save it outside of the program? Right click and choose one of the export options. If it's just for record keeping html is fine. If you want to import it into itunes m3u. You also have an option to export the songs in the playlist as well.

Exactly how are you creating these playlists?

It doesn't sound like you're opening from the installer, but lets just try this for fun. Drag the icon out of the dock and open Traktor form the applications folder. Create a new playlist then close Traktor, open it and see if the playlist is still there.

Yes, was jumping on the wagon to learn a thing or two. thanks for clarifying.

I am using itunes to sort. but knew it was possible to save a playlist from traktor. I do use the playlist on the fly to drop tracks in now & then.

If one does export tracks/playlist to itunes or a folder on there harddrive does this move or duplicate the origional?

eg. I have a favourites playlist I add to as I re-discover a track when Im playing around.

So I guess my main question would be "what happens once I export this playlist"

If I clear my collection this can be re-imported?

but much like yourself I have like to keep things tidy. and have gotten to a good place in that regard now after years of prior bad (un-educated ) practice.

    appreciate the input

yeh i have created a playlist in that way and it worked fine, kept the playlist when i reopened traktor

NB - i did not realise there is a new traktor update 2.1.1 so i will install that now. Even so i'm sure it was never the case that it should delete my playlists i'd prepared whatever version i was using...

This believe it or not can be because you aren't using the current version, I know it doesn't make sense because you think, it shouldn't matter what version, but I remember having a problem and gettting similar error messages and as soon as I upgraded my problem was gone.
