The problem is the touch-sensitive platters. After some arbitrary amount of time, Traktor realizes that he's not touching the platter anymore and switch from scratch mode to pitch-bend mode. With the platter spinning that quickly backwards, it would suddenly switch from going backwards at high speed to going forwards at a very low speed, probably giving some artifacts related to the time stretching if key lock is on.
The only reason CDJs don't do it is because Pioneer's coders made different assumptions about how people were going to use them.
I haven't used a controller that can backspin like vinyl unless you're going for a very quick effect. That's part of why I don't have any platters in my setup…they all suck compared to having a record, and DVS hasn't been worth it when I've tried it before.
