Looking at both of these right now on Craigslist. 200 for either one. Or 150 for mixtrack (not pro). Never touched a mixer before just want to play and learn.
    Also have VDJ
    Recommendations?

can't go wrong with either really. jogs seem better on the mixtrack and a *lot* more people have it so more chance of sharing mappins with other people. if u have a vdj pro license then you'll find more vdj stuff on the vdj forum.

i'd probably opt for the xponent for the extra controls it has - even tho some of the buttons look pretty small. i'd always want to write my own mappings anyway.

better than either of those two tho *could* be a behringer studio 4a - not released yet so quality isn't yet known, but i would wait for that http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/CMD-STUDIO-4A.aspx it also has a projected retail price of 200usd i think, so you'd be getting a new controller for the price of the other two 2nd hand.

Touch sensitive jogs on the mixtrack put it ahead of the xponent IMO, though I've never used the xponent it still looks pretty cramped

To be on the safe side, I'd lean towards the Mixtrack Pro, I've got buddies with it and it really is a great starter.

The thing is, the Xponent is a GREAT piece of hardware that was made to be a premium DJ device. The Mixtrack was made to be a budget piece that didn't suck. Very different ways of thinking. Plus, there are already good Traktor mappings:
