Plan your entire set ahead of time. You may not need to do this for every gig, but since it's your first you should know that set like the back of your hand. It will take a lot of pressure off.

As for the gear part--ease up on the effects. I know it's tempting to beatmash everything with the MF but just don't...

Honestly, it depends on how you feel about the girl. If you love her, leave her at home!!!!! There are many things that could go wrong.

    1. Groupies! You will get attention, and your woman might not like it. This could lead to jealous fights/arguments and a breakup.
    2. Party Girl! Your good girl could end up having too much fun. Next thing you know she is at a rave or a party every weekend and is out of control.
    3. Other Guys! If your woman looks good, you will have competition for her. Even from your friends!!!

Three solid reasons right there. Like I said.... If you love her, leave her at home!

If it's for a high school I doubt it's a rave. Be sure to keep the edm a little mainstream since you will have high schoolers present and the girls who attend will probably want to hear vocal hooks of songs they know so look to find some good remixes.
