That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

Anyway, that may have come across harsher then I meant, it isn't meant to be, it just blows me away people think like that.
I think it's clear that many people will judge a DJ by their look. Branded gear can certainly be part of a look.

It disheartens me, until I remember why I DJ.

In short, you said that you use them because people will recognise the brand.... nothing to do with quality etc etc..

That's fair enough, it's just something I thought most DJs didn't give two shits about.

It probably depends on why one plays other people's records. The kind of success I'd have to have "the right look" to get, isn't the kind of success I want. However, if I did want to be a superstar DJ, I'm pretty sure I'd have to concentrate on my marketing a lot harder than I do - and one's look is part of that.

It's just a level of who I like to associate with that's presented by my image.
Thats cool. I understand where your coming from. I just want to add a little bit to what I said before, when you're in the club all you really need is a pair of headphones w/ decent clarity, volume, and isolation, nothing special really. You're not producing music or anything or jamming out with your Ipod. With that being said, having the best sounding headphones that money can buy isnt going to help you at all, its unnecessary for the job. I actually own a pair of HDJ-2000's. You know how many people have come up to me and commented to me about them when I used to wear them out......0. You know how many people have commented on my custom Beats? I dunno but it's gotta be over 20. It's a business decision, if you dont think it's worth the investment or you dont like the image it might potray about you, then thats cool. I just wanted to shed some light and share maybe an angle you might not have ever thought of.

    End of thread Hijack

Yes basically.....a lot different from your original statement:

Again...nothing to w/ being judged as a DJ. Just saying it might be as stupid as that is the thing people remember/recognize/stands out.

It's not even about being judged by your look for me. I'm just talking about the possibility of having something that stands out from other DJ's and people might now remember you because of it. People see a pair of HD-25's and they dont even think twice.....they don't kniow what they are.....they dont look like anything special....nothing catches your eye. A customized pair of HD-25's is a different story.

Oh god why...did I bring up Beats by Dr. Dre...god damn it...
Anyways...Anyone have a SUGGESTION as the thread title implies?
I've been looking at the Sennheiser HD 25-1 ii and the AiAiAi TMA-1 as potential candidates.

I used to own a pair of Sennheiser HD 25 SP ii but I gave it to my friend since I was getting the Pioneer HDJ-2000.
One thing I hate about the SP model was that the cord was on both the left and right side of the headphones. It was very inconvenient compared to a one sided headphones such as the HDJ-2000.
I love the sound of the Sennheiser so I was willing to buy the HD 25-1 ii as for both monitor and casual uses.

One thing I was wondering about is comfortability. I want to use the headphones everyday in a casual manner while commuting from location A to location B.
Both the Sennheiser HD 25-1 ii and the AiAiAi TMA-1 are closed and rest ON the ears. If anyone owns either (or both) headphones, how comfortable are they? Can each be worn for a long time? Or is each most suited for DJ-use (monitoring/cueing)?

Oh, and as for the price range: I don't really mind the cost. But I'm guessing most quality headphones run at around $200's.

These are stupidly good for the price, honestly sound as good as headphones that cost 5 times as much. Easily the most comfortable in ear headphones I've ever worn, you barely notice you're wearing them.

    or...

if you don't like in ear buds.

That's just a few that provide amazing bang for your buck in my opinion. Obviously there are some amazing Sennheiser, Bose, Shure etc etc headphones out there if you got the cash, but both of the two above I personally think are on par with those brands for a fraction of the price.
