Ooops sorry didn't mean to plug someone. only meant to give you want can be done and what someone would charge so you can compare ah DIY revivival vs having someone who normally does it. GL man. I know I love my 1200's. Also bought them used. No mods as of yet though. =)

Wheres xone when you need him,
Wonder if he would do you a discount on some work

But if you do do them yourself put up a build log, im not bothered about spraying mine because theyre in good nick cosmetically but id love to change out the RCA's, clean out all the gunk and internally ground them

Yeah I'm looking to change the RCAs, maybe with some thick high qual ones. I'm giving the no solder LED kit a go to see if that works out for me. Then probably just doing automotive paint for the tops.

For the next set I do I'm just going to take them to get painted at a shop. for the cost of paint and supplies and all the time it takes it is probably worth it if you can find someone to do it for a fair price. I need to look around.

You will find to do any work on 1200s takes a lot longer than you expect and painting/sanding is kind of a pain so I would rather just have someone bead blast and paint or powder coat them.

I'll be installing an LED kit and doing usual work cleaning one up in front of the TV and hours will seem to pass by before I know it. It's a lot more of a hassle than people realize even when you've done it a ton of times. So many screws.

So many screwsssss........... But I have it painted, internally grounded, tone arm fully disassembled, cleaned, and put back together. I am debating on whether to take the tops to a powder coater. I did a fine job on it, but like Xone said its just easier to have someone else do it better, with better material.

Next to LED mod it then reassemble. God I hope it goes back together lol.

For future reference you don't need to take the metal shell off the transformer.

Also what happened to the feet, were they like that?

Also be sure the magnet stays protected and gets cleaned before you put the platter back on.

Yeah I figured that out after I took it apart. The feet unfortunately came that way so I had to order a new set. I put it back together to test my skills and all is well. I'm gonna dive in again once I get the LEDs.
