    xwax is a great idea for DVS! I didn't even think of that.
    I am a big fan of the UMIX44 pretty affordable 4/4 interface, and you should be able to tear it apart.
    It for sure works in linux (I use it with mixxx when i run Linux)
    One problem is the usb cable is not removable. Should be able to just solder it in place anyway.
    Another problem is the ins and outs are on opposite sides of the box. I haven't pulled it apart, so I don't know what that means for the insides, but might mean we have to do some interesting rigging of cables inside the box

    After reading about it I don't think this would work well...people seem to have latency issues in Linux.

    A chap came into the IRC channel asking for help with it and xwax. It took a buffer of 16ms to get it to work.
