Well, guys switch DAWs all the time.

You don't just give up your current one and start over. You grab a demo of another DAW you are thinking of and work with it a little here and there. Then you start to see what you like about it.

A lot of guys use more than one DAW. They find certain functions are easier in different programs. Some guys like to do mixdowns in Pro tools or logic but compose in Ableton, etc.

So don't limit yourself to one program, you never know what you are missing. You may find yourself much more creative in another program.

I think the biggest thing as a producer is to find the workflow which offers the least resistance for you. That takes as much of the "chore" aspect of producing out of it. You should always be looking for ways to do new things as a producer.

    Slightly offtopic question:

Does the Logic Pro version from the app store come with all the instruments/plug-ins or is there something similar to Ableton where Live 8 only contains a limited selection of instruments and you have to buy the Suite to have access to all instruments?

    TCMuc,

There used to be different versions of Logic ($200 Logic Studio and $400 Logic Pro), but the Studio version was scrapped. Now you get Logic Pro at the Logic Studio price

Everything but you need to run a separate install phase either at initial installation or later to get all the AppleLoop jam packs and so on.
