Oops thought you just said the faceplate. The middle isn't removable unfortunately.

Having gone from a VCI-100 to Xone gear anything without a metal faceplate starts to fall into "toy" category for me.
anyone that has laid hands on gear where the control elements are bolted directly to the metal face plate should agree, nothing feels better.
that said I like the feature set the Z2 offers (the usb ports are a sweet idea) but id buy a solid standalone mixer any day of the week.

DJM-T1 has had another price drop:

For 569£ / 705€. Pretty tempting I'd say.
metal vs plastic, internal vs external mixing. yeah I would go with the T1.
NI hasnt had the best track record when it comes to build quality, and also lets not forget the abortion a lot of people were put thru when the S4 came out, and their soundcard drivers had conflicts in Windows . It wasnt so much the conflicts I had issue with, but it was the way they handled their paying customers. I'd go T1 all day.
I can get a t1 for the same price as the z2. The only problem I see with the t1 is that you can't cue the remix decks properly from what I've read. I've been trying to work out some hybird setup of external and internal mixing with the t1 so that I can cue properly in my head, but can't come with a solution because cuing is handled externally within the t1 and not in traktor...Looks like I'm going to be getting a k2 even though I voted for the t1. Hopefully we can figure out how to get a long body innofader in there soon!

I'm a long time 909 and SSL user and am looking to switch it up and go the Traktor route. The 2+2 aspect of the Z2 looks awesome, but I feel as though I would miss the feeling of my 909. Is it possible to reassign the FX1&2 3 knobs to control the volumes of decks C and D on the DJM-T1? if so, what would be the advantage of picking up the z2 over the T1? I'm torn between the two because it seems as though they can both offer the same things. Also, in Traktor, is it possible to map the headphone cues of decks C and D to the FX1&2 2 knobs so samples can be previewed before going live? Thanks.
