You get the hang of it eventually, loading the film sheets is the worst part with LF.

And it's not really a view camera, it's a press camera :P It's meant to be handheld!

Honestly, shooting on a Medium Format or Large Format camera is an experience *so* different from shooting on a 35mm/Digital SLR. It's worth experiencing just for the difference, I like it a lot more than shooting with a 35mm camera.

Also, I got my medium format camera (Yashica 124-G) for ~$30 (200SEK), so it doesn't really have to be that expensive

Less point, yes. And I still feel like digital wins for color (because E6 processing and color printing from positives or negatives is a nightmare). But there is some textural detail in B&W film + darkroom prints that I just haven't seen equaled with an all-digital process.

That being said, I don't know anyone who prints digital as well as some people I know who print B&W film.

And if you're not going for gallery quality prints, it doesn't matter. ……which is why I shoot digital.

    • Agreed.
    • I know. Still…the experience is similar, no?
    • Agreed, though it's a lot easier to carry around an SLR, 2 lenses, and a flash (even with a second body) than an RB67 setup, which is what a friend has and basically all I've used in the MF world.
    • Agreed. The bodies & lenses aren't that bad. It's the film, processing, and printing that cost a lot of money. Even in Atlanta, there's only one place that does E6 processing, and they suck at it. My friend (who owns the Mamiya) wouldn't have even considered it if he didn't have access to a dark room…and he carries his d7000 with his Mamiya just in case he decides he wants to shoot in color.

How about we post some of our shots?

    I'll start...

    Shot with a friends 5d classic + 24-70L

    7d + 85L

    7d + 85L

    7d + 85L

Now that I'm posting these, I really miss shooting. I had sold my 7d last year to pickup a S4... Think I'll be getting a 5d + the 85L once I get the funds. Shooting was my favourite hobby before the dj bug bit me.

Right now I am on the fence..... a new 5D-III or a new set of 2 K-12's and a KW181 (with some $$ left over).

It's a tough choice that I am going to need to make pretty soon.

Oh those Full frame shots! I'd love to get my hands on one of them... alas, I think money is better spent on lenses. I still have to fix my 35mm F2.0.

Mostly old stuff I have on facebook. I real bad about saving my photos, I have backups of everything that ran in print, but almost none of it is online.

The photos I always upload are mostly social stuff. Work almost never gets posted online, just sent to the client and personal projects have been deemed less important against Dj'ing it seems. Mostly because social events just made me tired.. I just hate chasing people around for photos in case of weddings and stuff. Party photos is a different story... I'd like to get back to photography, but I dunno... I might need some time off for now.

Edit: Photojojo, I really like that last picture! Is that a solar eclipse?

I like the Photos so far in this thread. That one with the Ferris Wheel and the Clouds is really nice.

I use to do a lot of Airsoft Event Photography - Which is a sure fire way to suffer camera/lens damage.

One of my more interesting pictures is below

Yes that's the last one a few months ago. I think all the other photos are from 2010 since thats the last time I went through and uploaded a batch of stuff. I almost never take pictures when I'm off the clock and that pisses my wife off to no end. We have almost no pictures of our kids in the last 10 years that weren't taken with a cell phone.
