Doubt the problem is your machine - and other responses here confirm, it is either Windows (thus the mac suggestions) or it is Traktor - and as much as I would like to blame Windows, it sounds like Traktor is your most likely culpret. That they sell it for Windows but it really only works on Mac is silly.
Dont waste your money on a dual core i5 refurb mac, just because its the only place Traktor works - you have a kick ass powerfull machine. I know its not the same in capability, but have you considered a switch to Linux and MIXXX? (or even try MIXXX or any other dj software on your current windows box)
One other thing to look at - are you using a USB hub to connect your controllers? Possibly an issue there.. I have seen odd things with usb via hubs..
You may also look for help with tuning Windows for djing/audio (not my realm there, I am a linux kinda guy)
It seems like a software issue to me, as having your Traktor settings disappear between reboots is not an inherent issue with Windows or literally nobody would be running it on Windows. I would backup your personal data, do a fresh install of Windows, do a fresh install of Traktor, then see how it runs then.
I have legit Pro and LE versions(yes, accidentally I have 2 legit ones) and as I remember the problems were with the LE 2 version aswell + I have reinstalled my windows several times over the months.
No, I'm not using USB hub, my laptop has 4usb ports, so that's not a problem.
And no, I do not plan to go to Linux and/or other software, but yes, I have tuned Windows to dj'ing, turned off everything unneccassery etc.
I'll try downgrading again and just keep exploring, just buying a used cheapish macbook seems to be the easy way out, but I'm not giving up on getting it work on this computer aswell![]()
I use Traktor on an intel Windows laptop and it is extremely stable, not once has it crashed on me! theres a little script that was on the blog a while ago about that optimises your windows laptop for running traktor, makes it a hell off a lot more stable! try running that, saving your traktor settings and maybe doing a dual boot with only traktor and your tunes on one partition?
This is indeed a funny situation, if when you roll back you still have stability issues, you should try emailing Native Instruments and let them know your issue! see if they have any suggestions!

My Setup
I totally agree.. I was not the one who suggested that the best solution was to turn to a 1/2 as powerful Mac. Note that I did suggest seeking out windows tuning advice. My main point was that shelling out biz for a less capable piece of hardware should not be the only solution to the OP's issue.
Every Mac I have ever bought has been refurbished.
You don't have to have a Mac though. I would reinstall the OS and then do some optimization for DJ'ing. These might be a little dated depending on your OS, but the principals should still be the same.

Ok I'll try it soon, just waiting for my second hard-drive to arrive, can't install dual-boot on this one, because it is dynamic and can't install another win to it, if I don't want to loose all my data(or back it up, but atm I don't have anything to back it on to), so yeah, I'll wait to next week.
But if that works, I'll remove my optical drive(make it portable via usb) and add SSD drive to there instead, which is a lot better for DJ'in, let's hope that solves everything![]()
