^^Exactly what I thought. the mixer of course will give me many more i/o's but it wont be as simplistic a set up as straight to sound card. thanks man

it's not even a question of simplicity. Obviously as you add more things to your rig it becomes more complicated.

The question is what you NEED. That should be what you think about before every purchase. I haven't been doing this that long but I've spent enough money on shit I didn't need to make me second guess now, especially when buying outboard gear.

I know what you mean and I think simplicity is something I need at the moment. My VCI-100 is coming in the mail on wednesday and I officially have a full setup. I think i should master those before I move on to live drum machining etc etc. I was so close to getting an sr 18 then i realized, what am i going to do with this right now...

Slowly but surely I will progress and then feel the true need to get more equipment. Now however, I am just a bit curious.
