Yeah, I'm actually surprised that Native hasn't adopted Serato's approach to Beta Testing upcoming releases by now.

Users should complain if a product has been released that hasn't been thoroughly tested. And the companies who profit from the sales of software ought to pay the cost of developing it, and that includes testing it. They ought to compensate those who work to test their products. And yes it's "pretty easy" labor but so is vacuuming floors -- they'd face lawsuits if they asked their custodians to vacuum their office floors for free. If companies released cars or blenders or other consumer products for free beta-testing before the official release, people wouldn't bother buying those products. Yet somehow they can get people to beta test software and feel like it's a privilege to be allowed to risk their computer on an unknown product. Most of the time they don't even feel it necessary to offer a token of appreciation (free product, coupon, anything).

Sorry, this is just a pet peeve of mine, and I know NI isn't the only software company who does this.

My bad guys, I didn't realise this was just a beta test for current Traktor! Never noticed any emails about beta from NI before :/

I've just left timecode and gone Traktor without external decks, so no use to me lol.

On the subject though, how far away do you guys think we are from actually seeing a NEW Traktor/Scratch pro from NI?

Traktor S4 was the first release around 2 1/2 years ago. "Seems" to be due soon.

    My gut feelings says:
    - Teaser June/July,
    - Official announcement/pre-order August
    - Release September.

OR 1 month or so after their usual "Summer sale"

I'd rather prefer a rock solid version over a "brand new & shinny" version though.

Totally agree with you mate! Offer a remix set or something? I'm going to post it on the NI forums

Exactly--I'm not expecting them to unload barrels of cash to beta-testers, but I don't think it's out of like to expect them to do something to acknowledge that beta testers are doing unpaid work to help improve a product that will bring them more profits.
