would 8s be better or can the 6's handle?
Both the rokits and the maudios are very good.
It all comes down to what kind of room you have and where you will be placing the speakers. If you have a fairly small room, get the 6's. If you will be putting the speakers against the wall, than you'd be better of getting the KRKs, since they have a front facing bass reflex port. If you are going to put the speakers in the middle of the room, then i'd suggest the maudios, i find them a little truer than the krks

Awesome passive speakers at a fraction of the cost of Rokits, and with much better sound quality:

You'll need an amplifier as they're passive but even with a decent new amp you'll still be under the price of a pair of Rokits.

Couldn't praise the KRK Rokit 6's more. Great 1st set of monitors for the home.

Go to you're local music store and listen to what you want to buy first. I walked into Axe Music (local store here in Edmonton) , and was like "YEAH MAN, EVERYONE'S GOT THESE KRK ROKITS THEY MUST BE SO SICK" , but then listened to them next to some Yamahas and even Mackies, and was surprised at how much much better the yamahas and mackies sounded. Now I don't recall the models, but don't just go in with your mind set on KRK's and not look at anything else!

    Neither the maudios.
But both are certainly flatter than the wharfedales, which, while amazing speakers (and yes, better sounding than many low end monitors) color the sound quite a lot
