Even if that WAS correct (a 10% difference in raw performance is nothing to sneeze at tbh), spending money to DOWNGRADE is just insane. A fresh install will serve him far better.

If you're having problems running Traktor, then your install is clearly fucked. Do a clean install of Windows 8 (from the MSDN/Retail ISO), don't install any HP crapware or AV software, and you'll be in heaven. As balakoth said, a dual boot with just Traktor/iTunes/Quicktime on the W8 partition would be perfect. You can keep your iTunes library on your other partition and just boot into 8 when you need to prep/practice.
Mine is the g72-227wm. The cheapo black friday walmart laptop. Its pentium t4500 @ 2.3ghz.

Ahhh, in that case it's not as powerful, but should still be plenty to run Traktor. Do a fresh install of Windows 8 and you'll be amazed at the difference

Min specs for Traktor are 2.0GHz Core2Duo, and it's likely the desktop variant they're referencing. The T4500 only a "dual-core" and is probably slightly below the min spec.

Looks like it's the Macbook doing the annihilating this time.

Don't forget that the T4500 is a newer architecture than the old desktop C2Ds though. If you go here you can see it edges out the older 2.0Ghz C2D (P7350).

They just dont understand. Besides dont you know how it works now a days.

Its more than just raw benchmarks, there are performance aspects you cannot analyze.

Also the t4500 supports Hyperthreading, where as the core2duo chips did not. There right there is a great boost with multiple thread execution compared.

In the end, as stated before, a fresh install (Id go Windows 7 personally but hey whatever floats your boat) should be just fine. I let my daughter use one of my laptops for awhile when she got here, and she managed to make an i7 2.8 ghz (3.3) and 20gb of ram and an SSD to make traktor audio 10 crap ittself with just browsing the internet heh

Hyperthreading isn't going to be of much benefit for Traktor. The original question was whether a 2.6GHz C2D would outperform the HP laptop, which it will by far.

You are so wrong it hurts Makar. Perhaps you should brush up on your Hyperthreading and the concept of multi threaded application programming. Making a statement that some how Adding additional threads to run asynchronously at a time with a program that can start to accumulate over 50 active threads makes absolutely no sense.

I got it, you like Apple products, and think they are far superior. But you should more realistic in your information, and assessments of hardware.

You are completely wrong if you think the Pentium T4500 will outperform the C2D T7800. Brand is irrelevant - the C2D is the superior processor here.
