easiest way would be to have a soundsystem that you can rock up with. Stick a bit of paper up around campus/uni etc saying 'phat soundsystem for hire' with a no, and wait for em to roll in!
    A+H DB4, Technics 1210's x2, F1, X1MK2 x2, MaschineMk2, Akai LPK 25, MF3D, XDJ-1000 x2.

That sounds like a fucking brilliant idea! But what if they just want to hire the sound system and NOT the DJ. Also the other problem is I don't have a phat soundsystem I only have a 8 inch sub with 2 lil tweeters... Acoustic Energy Aego-M However it may be a good budget system, it is no where near a 'phat' 20kw sound system.

Even though I wouldn't recommend using studio monitors for house parties, you can still get away with grabbing a pair for in home use, and they'll do just fine in a college party type environment along with your current speakers. It's what I did for a bit and it worked out just fine.

Well i duno how much you've got to play with, but you can pick up small a setup for about 500/600 quid. Couple of small amp driven speakers and a sub if your savvy. Spend money to make it etc.

As for not wanting a DJ? if you got a call for said system you can rock up with and say 'hey i dj as well' and do it for a few beers. The next time your asked, say 'chuck us 20 quid and i'll dj' then build from there.

That would be great as well. With the Acoustic Energy Aego-M Subwoofer can I then connect two monitor speakers with that? or will that not be needed? (More for home use)

Also, could you recommend me some monitors please? That will be suitable for both home use and for house parties etc.

Will that actually work though? Or will they just be like.. Well actually I've already got a DJ doing an 8 hour set for example. I'm not really interested in earning money doing equipment hire... I just wanna DJ and do a few sets. But I will definitely give it a go. I think I can arrange £500 or £600 soundsystem, but if not it may have to something like £200 - £300. We're talking about a PA System here right? I really like this idea.

Well, monitors aren't exactly "suited" for environments outside of a studio... So any would work to be honest. Just depends on your budget, etc.

Also, how do you have that portable system hooked up? What kind of gear do you use?

Well the system I have is not portable, unless it says it there. But I'm press sure it isn't as it has a plug. But basically I have my Subwoofer, and then strand cables going from the subwoofer in to the two tweeters and then also I have a red/white RCA to mini-jack cable with the RCA in the subwoofer going out to my computer via mini-jack. Let me know if that doesn't make any sense. And my budget for monitors would probably be £300 maximum, as they are only monitors and not fuck off PA systems. I've always like KRK monitors.

Get some floorstanding/larger hi-fi speakers for home+party use. You can easily find a decent pair for under £100.
    VCM100 / X1 / DJM250 / DJM900 / CDJ2000s / Maschine / Audio2+4 / 2i4 / HS8s / TSP 2.6.8

Could you possibly recommend me some? I don't really know about all this stuff. Also I have more than £100 so that won't be a problem.
